Job Description
Carelee hires Personal Support Workers across theGreater Toronto Area, including Toronto, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, and Richmond Hill. Assignments are offered based on client needs and availability.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with personal care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, hygiene, mobility, transfers and feeding.
- Flexible scheduling is required, including weekdays and weekends, depending on the needs of each assigned case.
- Prepare simple meals or reheat meals and complete light housekeeping tasks.
- Provide medication reminders and assist with basic medication organization as directed by the family or healthcare provider.
- Support client engagement through conversation, walks, medical appointments, and recreational activities as outlined in the care plan.
- Document all care activities and report any changes in the client's condition promptly.
- Specialized care may be assigned on a case‑by‑case basis, including dementia care, palliative care, end‑of‑life support, post‑surgical and post‑injury recovery assistance, disability support, participation in 24‑hour care rotations, and double‑staffed shifts.
- Promote client independence, dignity, and comfort during all activities.
- Communicate clearly with clients, families, and the Carelee team.
- Use mobility aids and equipment safely and in accordance with training.
- Follow safety procedures, infection control practices, and emergency protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with Carelee’s professional conduct standards.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an Ontario-recognized Personal Support Worker (PSW) or registration with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Functional English communication skills for documentation and client interaction.
- Physical capacity to perform personal care, mobility assistance, and household support tasks.
- Travel within assigned service areas using public transit or a personal vehicle.
- Smartphone with data for accessing schedules, documenting care tasks, and completing shift check‑in/out through mobile software.
- Consistent reliability, punctuality, and commitment to scheduled assignments.
- Valid SIN and Eligibility to work in Canada.
Assets
Carelee welcomes applications from new PSW graduates and experienced caregivers. The following qualifications are helpful assets that can enhance an application, but are not mandatory:
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle for assignments in areas with limited public transit.
- Experience supporting clients with dementia, palliative needs, or complex care requirements.
- Experience in home care, community care, or long-term care.
- Proof of immunization may be requested for specific client environments.
- Additional training, such as GPA, U First, or dementia related workshops.
